September 24 – The campus round of the 2025 National University Computer Systems Capability Competition – Intelligent Computing Innovation Design Contest (“XianDao Cup”) – hosted by the School of Computer & Information Engineering, Shanghai Polytechnic University – was officially inaugurated. Linked to the courses “Parallel Processing & Computer Architecture,” “Cluster Systems & Parallel Computing,” and “Parallel Computing,” the contest takes “Master Skills, Innovate, Compute Intelligently for the Future” as its theme. It aims to promote learning through competition, spur students to break conventional thinking in algorithm design, system optimization and large-model programming, and cultivate innovation ability.

Associate Dean Shi Linxiang outlined the university’s history, distinctive education model and talent-training innovations, highlighted its research achievements in parallel computing, and detailed the construction of the university’s “Houji” Intelligent-Computing Collaborative Innovation Platform and its pivotal role in supporting discipline development and teaching.
Liu Xiaowei, Deputy General Manager of Sugon’s HPC Product Division & General Manager of East-China Business Unit I, delivered an address packed with professional insight and concrete data on the evolution of domestic GPU technology, its current impressive results and future trends. He urged students to contribute their wisdom and energy to the domestic-GPU wave and become a new force driving China’s technological self-reliance.
Zhao Ruiqiang, representing the XianDao Cup organizing committee, introduced the contest’s history and this year’s arrangements, expressing the hope that students will unleash their creativity and demonstrate SPPU’s excellence in parallel computing.
Finally, Prof. Shen Wenfeng, Director of the “Houji” Intelligent-Computing Collaborative Innovation Platform, explained the campus-round rules and problem set, encouraging participants to enter the arena with a sense of mission and dare to advance domestic GPUs from “usable” to “excellent.”
Formerly the “XianDao Cup” Computing Applications Contest, the event was incorporated into the National University Computer Systems Capability Competition in 2024. It partners with universities to cultivate talent for the domestic C86 accelerator ecosystem, deepen industry–education integration, propel the development of China’s intelligent-computing education and industry, and contribute to national technological progress and industrial upgrading.
