School of Computer and Information Engineering was established in 2002 (formerly the Department of Computer Engineering Applications founded in 1979). In 2003, itwas honored as a national Demonstration Software Vocational and Technical College. The School consists of 4 departments including Department of Computer Science and Technology, Department of Software Engineering, Department of Artificial Intelligence, Department of Information and Communication Engineering, andalso 1 experimental center and astudent affairs office. There are nearly 2600 full-time students, 106faculty and staff, 66 full-time teachers, 14 laboratory technicians, amongwhom there are 8 professors (senior engineers) and 36 associate professors. Nearly two-thirds of the teachers have a doctor's degree. Over the years, following theschool motto of Science, Rationality, Integration and Development, the School has carried out productive exploration and practice.

The Experimental Center of the School has 10 standard laboratories and 29 specialized laboratories, including electronic information laboratory, electrical and electronic laboratory, communication technology laboratory, testing technology laboratory, network engineering laboratory, software engineering laboratory, computer foundation laboratory, computer composition laboratory, digital media laboratory, embedded technology laboratory, etc. It has 1 excellent engineers practice and innovation center and 1 laboratory for postgraduates. The total laboratory area covers about 4,000 square meters with 6,514 equipment, and the total assetsareworth 68.29 million yuan.

The School has gained many educational achievements and awards, such as the Excellent Engineer Education Training Program of Ministry of Education, the Characteristic Programs of the Ministry of Education, First-Class Undergraduate Programs in Shanghai, Shanghai Education Highland Projects, etc.

The School has many outstandingfaculty who have won honorary titles and awards such as Shanghai Excellent Teaching Team, Shanghai Outstanding Teacher for Teaching Excellence, Expert Entitled to the State Council Special Allowance, Shanghai Excellent Educators, Shanghai Advanced Individual in Vocational Education, Baosteel Outstanding Teacher Award,etc. They have undertaken projects under the National Natural Science Foundation,National High-tech R&D Program (863 Program) and other national and Shanghai key projects, and won the second prize of Science and Technology Progress Award of the Ministry of Education, the third prize of National Excellent Science and Technology Book Award, etc.

The School insists on promoting learning by competitions, integrating discipline competitions into teaching and practices. In the past three years, more than 2,200 students have participated in various discipline competitions such as the National Mathematical Modeling Contest for College Students, the Computer Design Contest for Chinese College Students, the National Electronic Design Contest and more than 200 other national and provincial competitions, and achievedover 700 awards, including more than 300 national awards.

The School insists on university-enterprise cooperation, keeps improving the collaboration and has set up some off-campus practice bases to explore joint talent training mode. It has established joint talent training bases with more than 40 enterprises, such as National Radio Monitoring Center, Shanghai Branch of Digital China System Integration Service Co., LTD.,etc.

The School adheres to international cooperation to broaden students’ global vision. It has established cooperation with universities and enterprises in 16 countries and regions, including the United States, Germany, Austria, France, Ireland, Sweden, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Hungary, etc., carrying outcooperation in information and communication technology, computer science and technology and otherfields.The overseas exchange programs are increasingly diversified covering scholarship programs, tuition-free exchange programs, double degree programs, exchange programs, industry internships, winter camps, and other programs.
