On March 29, 2024, the 14th Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award Ceremony was held at the Beijing Friendship Hotel, organized by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI). The ceremony announced the recipients of 53 projects and individuals honored in 2024.

• Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Achievement Award: 1 project

• Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Contribution Award: 3 projects

• Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Natural Science Award: 9 projects

• Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Technology Invention Award: 8 projects

• Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Progress Award: 17 projects

• Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Youth Science and Technology Award: 15 projects

Our university’s project, Innovation and Application of Smart Perception Technology in Smart City Construction, led by Professor Liu Zhendong of the School of Computer and Information Engineering, was awarded the Second Prize of the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Progress Award in 2024. This project was jointly submitted by our university as the lead institution and four partner organizations. Professor Liu Zhendong attended the award ceremony and delivered a keynote speech titled Innovation and Application of Smart Perception in Smart Cities at the AI Application Scenario Innovation Forum.

Project Highlights:
 The project addressed critical technical challenges in smart city development, including:

1. Breakthroughs in integrated control, analysis, and predictive modeling for IoT-based urban perception systems.

2. Development of a multi-source heterogeneous information perception system and a trustworthy fusion model for smart cities.

3. Design and implementation of intelligent analysis and prediction mechanisms for deep urban applications.

This award marks the first time our university has received this honor, underscoring the national recognition of our advanced research and application capabilities in artificial intelligence.

About the Wu Wenjun Artificial Intelligence Science and Technology Award:
 Established by the Chinese Association for Artificial Intelligence (CAAI), the award is named in honor of Professor Wu Wenjun, a pioneer of China’s artificial intelligence research and the first recipient of China’s National Top Science and Technology Award.
